Herb Pap dumplings in Chakalaka

Ingredients

  • 250 ml (1 cup) self-raising Flour
  • 2.5 ml (½ tsp) salt
  • 125ml (½ cup) maize meal 
  • 45 ml (3 Tbsp) butter 
  • 15ml (1 Tbsp) chopped fresh coriander
  • 250 ml – 375 ml (1-1½ cups) warm water
  • 2 x 410 g cans Chakalaka Hot & Spicy 
  • 1 x 410 g can Rhodes Quality Tomato Chopped & Peeled

Method

  1. Sift the flour and salt into a bowl.
  2. Add the maize meal and stir to mix.
  3. Rub the butter into maize meal mixture.
  4. Add the coriander.
  5. Add enough water to form a stiff dough.
  6. Divide the mixture into 12 equal pieces and roll into balls.
  7. Place the Rhodes Quality Chakalaka Hot & Spicy and Rhodes Quality Tomato Chopped & Peeled into a medium saucepan with a lid and bring to a simmer.
  8. Drop the pap dumplings into the chakalaka sauce.
  9. Cover the pan with the lid and simmer for twenty minutes or until the dumplings are soft fluffy.
