Serve as an appetiser at your next braai or as a delicious lunch on its own with a fresh salad.
Ingredients
- 250 ml (1 C) Rhodes Quality Braai Relish
- 1 x 50 g sachet Rhodes Quality Tomato Paste
- salt and freshly cracked pepper
- 1 x 400 g roll Today’s ready-made puff pastry, defrosted
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 500 g boerewors, cooked and chopped
- 1 x 410 g can Rhodes Quality Pineapple Pieces in Syrup, drained
- 125 ml (½ cup) grated mozzarella cheese
Method
- Place the Rhodes Quality Braai Relish and the Rhodes Quality Tomato Paste into a small saucepan.
- Bring to the heat and stir well, then reduce the heat and simmer until thick.
- Season to taste and set aside to cool.
- Lightly roll out the Today’s puff pastry and trim into a circle slightly bigger than a tart pan.
- Spray the tart pan with non-stick spray and then line the bottom and the sides with the puff pastry.
- Brush the pastry with the egg and prick the bottom with a fork.
- Spread a layer of the cooled braai sauce on to the bottom of the pastry.
- Arrange the boerewors and the Rhodes Quality Pineapple Pieces on top of the braai sauce and the sprinkle with the mozzarella cheese.
- Bake the tart in a preheated oven that has been preheated to 190℃ for 20 – 25 minutes or until the pastry is crisp and golden.
- Serve hot.
