Chakalaka Steak Wraps on the Braai

Stretch your rands with these delicious braaied steak and chakalaka wraps

Ingredients

  • 400 – 500 g quality steak
  • salt and freshly cracked black pepper
  • 125 ml (½ cup) olive oil
  • 65 ml (¼ cup) Worcestershire sauce
  • 30 ml (2 Tbsp) brown sugar
  • 30 ml (2 Tbsp) butter
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 x 410 g can Rhodes Quality Whole Kernel Corn
  • 2.5 ml (½ tsp) chilli flakes
  • fresh coriander, chopped
  • 4 tortilla wraps
  • 250 ml (1 cup) grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 x 410 g can Rhodes Quality Chakalaka Hot & Spicy, heated

Method

  1. Place the steak in a casserole dish and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Whisk together the olive oil, Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar and pour over the steak.
  3. Marinade for an hour at room temperature.
  4. Heat the butter in a saucepan and fry the garlic for a few minutes.
  5. Add the Rhodes Quality Whole Kernel Corn and toss until heated through.
  6. Season to taste with salt, pepper and chilli flakes.
  7. Stir through the coriander and set aside.
  8. Braai the steak over hot coals until done to your liking.
  9. Slice into even-sized strips.
  10. Place the wraps on the grill and sprinkle with the cheddar cheese.
  11. Once the cheese is melted, remove the wraps to serving plates.
  12. Divide and arrange the steak slices between the wraps.
  13. Top with the corn.
  14. Top with a generous portion of Rhodes Quality Chakalaka Hot & Spicy.
  15. Fold over and serve immediately.
